DESIGNER BIO

Natalie Bertocchi is a 25-year-old Designer, from Melbourne Australia. Her passion for design and textiles started at a young age, being cultivated by her grandmother who was a couture dressmaker from Amsterdam. In 2013, Natalie participated in Fashion VCAL, learning technical pattern-making skills and design. Completing her VCE studies in Product Design and Technology, her design work featured as a finalist in Top Designs 2015. Her portfolio includes working archetypes for both men’s and woman’s ready to wear garments. She has completed a Bachelor of Fashion Design (hons) at RMIT gaining comprehensive knowledge in pattern-making. Recently, Natalie has just completed a Masters of Fashion at RMIT with critical knowledge in the business of fashion. 

 

Natalie has developed her own design identity that focuses on pattern and fabric manipulation techniques. Her work includes reference to traditional woman’s and men’s archetypes which are modified. Natalie’s design inspirations are largely influenced by her surroundings. This is referenced throughout her work where influence to nature, architecture, and location is displayed. Natalie’s work connects the idea that the place in which she inhibits, directly influences the clothing in which she designs for the body. Throughout her practise, Natalie has worked with various innovative fabrications, she practises textile experimentation processes, by taking a fabric and altering its form. Natalie most recent collection incorporated a ready to wear evening collection, inspired by oceanic references.
